Biography |
I am an award winning photographer and gained my technical skills at Sydney’s Ultimo TAFE finishing my diploma of Commercial Photography over 4 years. In 2005 I made the transition from the corporate world to full time Landscape Photographer. As a female specializing in a predominantly male orientated field it has been challenging, sometimes frustrating but ultimately rewarding. Previously based in the Blue Mountains of Sydney, my love for the great outdoors and nature has strongly influenced the direction of my photographic work. This has now led me to traveling around Australia on a permanent working holiday with the emphasis and passion always on building a collection of images to market and sell world wide. As well as landscape photography, I enjoy faithfully capturing people in their environments and most recently have been focused on indigenous people in the Kimberley region. I love the fact that there's such a rich variety of people and environments in Australia and am always inspired. I balance my time between traveling and photographing landscapes and portraits and regularly set myself personal projects to stay fresh and creative. My style is in obtrusive, at times quirky and humorous. Teaching photography for beginners at Community College in the past was also something which I have found very rewarding and this also helped me stay focused and reinforced the basic principles of photography. As I have been traveling I have also been teaching photography for beginners holding my own classes when requested by people. Each class is unique and has been set up based on the students needs. They have been fun as well as informative. My intention is to make people more aware and have a much better understanding of not only how to use a camera with confidence but how much work goes into shooting professional images as opposed to snap shots giving them a greater appreciation and respect for the photographic industry as a form of ART and the photographer as the artist. |
