From the iconic Uluru and Kata Tjuta to the striking formations of the Devils Marbles, this workshop is designed to elevate your photography skills while exploring some of Australia’s most stunning natural wonders.
With guidance, hands-on tuition, and dedicated sunrise and sunset photography sessions, you’ll have the opportunity to refine your techniques in landscape, and creative composition with plenty of time at each location. Plus, now I have included another day and a group critique session which will help you gain valuable group feedback and insights to take your photography to the next level and enhance your portfolio all within a relaxed environment.

Your Red Centre photography adventure begins as you arrive in Alice Springs between 12:00 PM and 2:00 PM, where I will personally pick you up from either the airport or CBD for a seamless transfer to our accommodation.
After checking in and settling into your room, we head out for our first photography session—a stunning sunset shoot at a carefully selected location (TBA). This will be a great opportunity to capture the unique colors of the outback landscape, get familiar with your gear, and receive expert guidance on composition, lighting, and camera settings to set the tone for the days ahead.
Following the shoot, we’ll return to town for a delicious welcome dinner at one of Alice Springs’ best local restaurants, where we can relax, discuss photography techniques, and prepare for the journey ahead.
This is the perfect introduction to the Red Centre, setting the stage for an incredible 8-day photography experience!
After a hearty breakfast in Alice Springs, we set off on an exciting journey to Devils Marbles (Karlu Karlu), one of the Northern Territory’s most surreal and photogenic landscapes. Upon arrival, we’ll check in for a two-night stay at a comfortable outback hotel, allowing plenty of time to explore and capture this breathtaking location.
In the late afternoon, we venture out to the Marbles for a golden hour walk, discovering unique rock formations and perfecting composition techniques before settling in for a stunning sunset shoot. As the light transforms the landscape into a painter’s palette of deep reds and soft purples, you’ll learn how to enhance colors, shadows, and textures in your shots.
After our shoot, we’ll return to the hotel for a delicious restaurant dinner, where we can unwind and discuss the day’s highlights before retiring for the evening.
The day begins early with a sunrise photography session at the Marbles, where the first light of the day casts a mesmerizing glow over the boulders and surrounding landscape. We’ll explore hidden angles, leading lines, and creative compositions, capturing the magical stillness of the outback morning.
Afterward, we return to the hotel for a well-earned hearty breakfast before taking a break to relax. You can choose to unwind by the pool, explore the hotel grounds for bird photography, or start post-processing your images.
In the afternoon, we gather for a group critique session, where you'll receive expert feedback on your photos, gain valuable insights, and refine your post-production techniques to elevate your work.
As the sun begins to lower, we head out for our second sunset shoot, offering another chance to capture the Marbles in a different light and perfect your skills. We wrap up the day with another delicious outback dinner, sharing stories, reviewing shots, and preparing for the next adventure. Possible night shoot here.
This section of the tour offers a rare opportunity to deeply immerse yourself in one of the NT’s most striking landscapes, refining your photography skills through hands-on experience and valuable critique.
After capturing the magic of dawn, we return to the hotel for a hearty breakfast before checking out and making our way back to Alice Springs. Upon arrival, we’ll enjoy a relaxing lunch before checking into our accommodation for the next two nights.
In the late afternoon, we set off to Simpsons Gap, a stunning natural gorge in the West MacDonnell Ranges, for our sunset photography session. This location offers dramatic rock faces, riverbeds, and often sightings of black-footed rock wallabies, providing a perfect mix of landscape and wildlife photography opportunities.
After sunset, we return to Alice Springs for dinner, where we can unwind, review the day's shots, and prepare for the following day before retiring for the evening.
After a hearty breakfast in Alice Springs, we embark on a full-day photography journey through the stunning West MacDonnell Ranges, home to some of the most breathtaking landscapes in Central Australia.
First Stop – Standley Chasm
Our first destination is Standley Chasm, a dramatic rock formation with towering red cliffs. Arriving mid-morning, we’ll capture the play of light and shadows as the sun illuminates the chasm’s sheer rock walls—an incredible opportunity for mastering contrast and composition.
Ellery Creek Big Hole – Lunch Stop
Next, we head to Ellery Creek Big Hole, a picturesque waterhole surrounded by rugged cliffs and shady gum trees. Here, we take a break for lunch, offering time to relax, enjoy the peaceful surroundings, and capture reflections on the still water.
Ormiston Gorge – Photography Walk
In the afternoon, we arrive at Ormiston Gorge, one of the most spectacular locations in the West MacDonnell Ranges. A scenic walk through the gorge provides opportunities to photograph towering rock walls, deep ochre colors, and waterholes, perfect for refining your composition and storytelling skills.
Sunset at Mount Sonder Lookout
As the day winds down, we make our way to Mount Sonder Lookout, a breathtaking vantage point to capture the golden hues of the outback at sunset. With panoramic views over the MacDonnell Ranges, this is a prime
location to practice long exposure techniques, silhouette photography, and capturing vast landscapes in changing light.
After the sun sets over the outback, we return to Alice Springs for a late dinner, where we can relax, share our best shots of the day, and prepare for the final leg of our Red Centre adventure.
From dramatic gorges to sweeping mountain vistas, Day 5 offers an unforgettable exploration of the West MacDonnell Ranges—one of Australia’s most photogenic landscapes!
After a hearty breakfast, we depart for Yulara, the gateway to Uluru-Kata Tjuta National Park. Along the way, we stop for lunch at Erldunda Roadhouse, a great spot to stretch our legs.
Upon arrival in Yulara, we check in for a two-night stay at The Lost Camel Hotel, offering a comfortable base for our Uluru experience. After some time to relax, we set out for a breathtaking Uluru sunset shoot, where the changing light transforms this iconic monolith into an artist’s palette of deep reds, oranges, and purples.
After sunset, we return to Yulara to enjoy dinner at one of the town’s top restaurants, followed by a well-earned rest.
The day begins with an Uluru sunrise shoot, capturing the first light of the day as it illuminates the rock’s dramatic textures and deep earthy tones followed by the Kuniya Walk, a short yet stunning trail leading to Mutitjulu Waterhole, where we’ll photograph ancient rock art and lush contrasts against the arid landscape. Afterward, we head back to Yulara for breakfast and a break.
Following lunch, we set off for Kata Tjuta, home to the striking Walpa Gorge Walk. The afternoon light accentuates the towering domes and deep canyons, providing a spectacular backdrop for landscape photography. As the day winds down, we capture sunset over Kata Tjuta, taking in one last golden-hour masterpiece before returning to Yulara for dinner.
Our final morning is one to remember—an optional sunrise scenic helicopter flight over Uluru and Kata Tjuta, offering a breathtaking aerial perspective of these legendary formations. This is the ultimate opportunity to capture sweeping outback landscapes, dramatic shadows, and the vast desert expanse from above. If you prefer to keep your feet on the ground we will head out to the stunning Walpa Gorge for sunrise instead.
We then return for breakfast and check out, before heading to Ayers Rock Airport for departure.
